Bone and bread

Summary: Beena and Sadhana are sisters whose bond could only have been shaped by the most unusual of childhoods - and shared tragedy. Orphaned as teenagers, they are placed under the exasperated watch of their Sikh uncle, who runs a bagel shop in Montreal's Hasidic community of Mile End. Together, they try to grasp the confusing brew of values, rituals, and beliefs that form their inheritance. Yet as the sisters cope with the loss of their parents, their grief sends them along divergent paths.
