Goat Range Provincial Park Cover Image VHS VHS

Goat Range Provincial Park [videorecording] / produced by Good Earth Productions Inc. in association with Discovery Channel Canada.

Summary:

Goat Range Provincial Park is the largest wilderness park (at eighty-nine square kilometers) in the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia. This wild and rugged country has some of the oldest trees in the region and provides a critical habitat for bears. There is a healthy population of grizzlies, a large proportion of which are rare and mysterious "white grizzlies." Includes hikes through bear-denning areas with local experts, who unravel some of the complexities of old-growth forests. Includes a segment on a unique "bear school" where the focus is on watching for bear "signs" and interpreting bear behaviour. Briefly discussed is how the region's economy has switched from silver ore mining to logging (with a brief segment on Sandon).
