Summary: Kokanee Glacier Park, a backcountry park less than 50 km from Nelson, B.C. contains a population of 3-6 grizzly bears. With the growing number of hikers, the potential of serious bear/hiker interactions is increasing and the need for a sound management plan is imperative. This technical report recommends several management policies to reduce to safe levels the chance of bear/hiker encounters.
