Children of the Kootenays : memories of mining towns

Summary: Dotting the scenic West Kootenay area in southeastern British Columbia, in the valleys of the Arrow, Slocan, and Kootenay Lakes nestled among the Purcell, Monashee, Selkirk, and Valhalla ranges of the Columbia Mountains, are a number of small historic towns, ghost towns, and abandoned mines. Yet in 1927, when young Shirley Doris Hall and her family moved to the region, it was a hub of economic and social activity. The children who grew up in these now-abandoned towns are long gone, but their memories are preserved in this book, illustrated with the author's own family photos.
